Marriage Equality in the Conservative Synagogue

May 22, 2012 7:pm

Is same-sex marriage equal to heterosexual marriage? What challenges and opportunities await same-sex couples in civil law and in Jewish communities?

As a place where same-sex marriages are performed and same-sex relationships are welcome, Town & Village Synagogue would like to invite you to join us for this wonderful educational opportunity.  We will look at a new phenomenon in Conservative Judaism and try to understand how customs and liturgy develop around a new set of circumstances.  Our guest speaker will be Rabbi Daniel Nevins, Dean of the Division of Religious Leadership of The Jewish Theological Seminary, who will present a responsum on the topic.

The event will take place at Town & Village Congregation, 334 East 14th Street (btw 1st & 2nd Aves.) in Manhattan, on Tuesday, May 22nd at 7-9 PM.
